Front Disc Getting Really Hot

Just had a full service and after 10 mile journey notice a hot disc smell which was coming from both front disc.
I really does not make sense as the garage didn't touch the wheels and it is on both sides.
Is there something in the hydrualics which could cause both disc cylinders to not release occasionally?
Any suggestions

Are you sure it's the brakes and not the DPF trying to do a regen. That smells like hot brakes when you park up.

Thanks for replying.
Both disc are too hot to touch and there was no heavy braking en route.

Discs will be hot to the touch if you've just stopped. If they were seriously hot (burn your finger prints off hot) then that's likely to be a sticking caliper.

^ This, but it's unlikely both will stick at the same time, which is why my first thought was a hot exhaust.

@Coly, were the fans still running after you'd parked up?

Agreed, symmetrical sticking calipers, I'd put the lottery on

Agreed it sounds like a dpf regen to me too, it probably only started after you left the garage, 10 mile journey wouldn't be enough to finish it either

The disc were both hot enough to burn tips of fingers. The garage raised both wheels and said neither were binding. They mentioned the possibility of an ABS valve ocassionally sticking.

Have you drove recently? Is the fan running? and the smell still there?

This one?
So basically T6 without Adaptive Cruise Control?
T6: ABS Brakes (J104) Part No SW: 7E0 907 379 P HW: 7E0 907 379 M
T6+ACC: ABS Brakes (J104) Part No SW: 7E0 907 379 Q HW: 7E0 907 379 N

Yes that’s the one,, I’ve done a few on golfs and know there are the same module, I get mine overhauled by a specialist company

Why in my opinion you should not piss about with the coding in the module, ie Tpms the module covers different vehicles or different weights which is critical for the abs module to know what’s what, someone will shot me down for saying this but also good luck with anyone altering your module settings especially on the abs module have an accident that’s investigated be prepared to take what comes your way, as you have knowingly altered and safety system
