Front crank shaft seal leaking

So in the end this turned out to not be the crank shaft seal after all, but the sump seal, which they have now resealed.

This is great, as it means I still have a years warrenty on the crank shaft seal I paid towards last year.

It's obviously just a shame it was diagnosed wrong in the first place as it's caused a lot of anger and upset that could have been avoided. The guy who looked at it this time, immediately knew it wasn't the crank shaft again.
Great results.

It's fairly easy to see where the leak is once all clean.

The MCS seal sits on top of sump....

So if the leak is on top.... It's the seal.

If below .... It's the sump.

I have used Marshall commercial Lincoln since I got my van, I've never been impressed with the service department, every time I go in there's a new service manager, once they really let me down and caused a load of hassle. When my all in ends at the end of this this year I'm moving on

They are closing the sales area at the end of the month and moving it Scunthorpe, service is still continuing but for how long I'm not sure

Just been reading some other peoples disappointments with the crank shaft seals leaking. Been too VW dealership to have my final service plan service carried out today. Bearing in mind my vehicle hasn’t long gone out of warranty coming up to four years old being told my t6 is also leaking oil on the crank shaft seals. The chap from VW telling me this is a common fault with these vans. Surely this should be a recall as so many customers who pay big money for these vehicles are having these expensive repair costs on vehicles some of which have not yet been run in
I know this is an old thread, but I have recently bought a T6 17plate with 160k on it
FSH and the first thing I did was put it in a garage for the belt and oil pump belt.
Garage rang to say that it had been bodged with silicone and now I’m locked in negotiations to get the repair paid for.
Some charlatans about
