We are planning a trip to Montenegro later this year and looking at possible routes. One option is to travel down though Italy and then ferry across to either Croatia or Montenegro direct. Anyone done this and have any useful tips?

I am interested to hear too.
Maybe next year or the year after I want to visit some friends there with my van.
My take would be to ferry directly from Italy to Montenegro. In the recent past , when Croatia was not yet Schenngen, I found troublesome crossing their borders both ways, so I would try to avoid that.
