Fibreglass false floor

Finally have some time for working on my van (after replacing the HWS turned into recladding the whole bloody house), and it's time for a false floor incorporating a few drawers, drawer fridge, underbunk A/C, board racks, MTB stands etc.

It seems the standard approach to these matters is 12mm ply, but that's bloody heavy. Has anybody used foam/fibreglass to build this sort of stuff? Any reason not to? It seems there would be big benefits in weight saved and insulation, at the cost of significantly more labour. I'm by no means a pro with the stuff (I'd never get on a boat glassed by me!), but I'm sure I could do a good enough job for this.
