Exercise and age

I get up every other mornign at 5am to ride my bike

I used to do that 2 or 3 times a week when I was racing, with longer rides at the weekend. One November morning I went over something on the road that popped both tyres, and threw me off at 35mph (according to Strava) I ended up in the middle of the road, on a bend, in the dark with a broken leg. Not ideal, so be careful out there lads.

We have Hicks Lodge near us which is a fairly mild meander through the woods. Also Cannock Chase, where I understand the air ambulance lands on a regular basis!
I've done some courses over there and seen a lot of riders hooning about. They looked brave, but most I saw didnt know then difference between fast riding and fast risk taking. Not surprised at all that the whirlybird ambo gets a lot of business there.

Zwift has really good user interfaces allowing group rides and social interaction via message or 'discourse' (a radio channel) you can choose your level, select rides from which you can't get dropped (rubberbanding), or just adopt a training plan and the computer will adjust your efforts. I ride about an hour, have a good chat, look at the virtual scenery....
I’ve got Zwift and the Elite simulator app. Also tried the Apple Workouts but it just doesn’t do it for me. I normally love these kind of gamification / parasocial things.

You heard it Mr. Bigfoot - it’s because of your none existing skills and not using proper light ;)

I used to love commuting home innthe dark. At the time I lived in a village, which meant 8 miles of unlit country roads in all weathers at 2am. You see some strange sights - badgers, owls, burglars, ravers, doggers going at it, saw it all over the years.

I used to record my rides on Endomondo (remember that?) so Mrs Sasquatch could track my progress from home without having to worry about me.
