Eurotunnel - A Sneaky Little Trick ;)

If i had time i’d go ferry, but the couple of hours ET saves over ferry is always welcome. As soon as we retire it’ll be ferry all the time.
Mmmm. We did ET the other week and with earlier people turning up late due to a crash and being allowed on we got bumped and had to wait 4 hours.
It’s also less distance and hassle for us to drive straight to Newhaven and it saves us a couple of hours the other side too.

We’ve used the Tunnel once, & I said never again. If anything it was too efficient. We had a 5 hour drive down from God’s own, rocked up at the tunnel, straight on, 35 mins later we were spit out of the other side. Bish bash bosh! I never had a break or actually got out of the car, we were camping at the time, so couldn’t pull up easily & have a kip. I find the ferry much more relaxing & part of the holiday, similar to how flying used to be.
Re. Dogs. We used to take ours on the Dieppe ferry & it wasn’t a problem. It’s a 4 hour crossing & they stay in the car. You’re allowed down onto the car deck with an escort, mid crossing if you wish to walk them around & have a pee.

That sucks. I have had delays, but they are quite rare.

I have used the tunnel 46 times in the last 9 years. I had everything from power cuts in the tunnel (5h wait in the train) up to being pushed into the fast lane because my dog is cute.

There was a minor error on the booking page today—I initially booked our Christmas break but forgot to include our dog for the return journey. I later updated the reservation, and adding him was free, whereas if I had booked correctly from the start, it would have cost £23.

This is the advantage of using the tunnel but it’s tricky now because you don’t know if you will get straight on and be out in 35 mins or have a 5 hour wait because of [add excuse]. This is why I find it stressful now

Having used the tunnel for the first time last week, I thought it was brilliant. I wanted a quick crossing (if anything to stop me spending more in the cafe).
I stopped overnight in a pub car park 20 mins away so I was refreshed for the journey next day. The journey from Leeds was a slog.

Yeah absolutely. None of that 33p per minute rubbish. The one Ally rings is, I think, in France but it works for us.

I’ve never quite got the 33p/min thing. It’s a 0330 number which is a non geographic standard call & included in most call plans. I’ve never been charged when I’ve rung it previously.
