Engine CXGB stopped while driving, cranks not starting

Hello everyone, my engine stopped like running out of fuel symptoms while driving, trying to start it would crank but won’t fire. Engine has 290k miles on it. Done new timing belt as it was 80k since last one s been done, old one looked ok( can’t and can on time) , still no start. Done a live data while cranking and noticed fuel rail pressure figure stays constant on 44psi. From what I read hear that should be over 2500psi. Any ideas what to do next to minimise labour and cost ? Already spent few hundreds 😢

By that you mean dismantling the hpfp and check all components? Could the pressure regulator mounted on it be stuck on close position?
Remove the fuel metering valve on the HPFP and check for metallic particles.
Note that VIP Membership gets you access to manuals, drawings and much more.

I did that too and couldn’t see anything like metal chipping or any other debris. Could this be stuck on close position? How do I test this valve is working properly?

A full VCDS scan uploaded to the Forum would help.

Does it look like all the spring is there or have the broken ends worn smooth?
You maybe lucky.

What do you suggest dudes? Replace just this part or the entire hpfp? The spring looks a clean break, when I puzzle it back it matches , looks like it hasn’t lost any metal pieces of it

Seems to be a fairly common problem, is the spring available separately?
