Happy Wednesday,

just checking the T&C´s for a site we go to for the May BH - I´m sure they will not enforce it but has someone ever had problems with there window panelvan?

VEHICLES

  1. All vehicles are admitted at our discretion. Caravans, motorhomes or RVS over 8 metres in length must inform us at the time of booking. Motorhomes and campervans must be registered as such with the DVLA and have windows in the side.
  2. .....untidy vehicles will not be admitted even if booked.

True,
just looked at the gov.uk page for fun - wasn´t aware that a pop-top wouldn´t be enough which means 98% auf T6 couldn´t get the Motor Caravan V5 anyway.
  • a high-top roof (this does not include a pop-top elevating roof)

Its to keep the raggers out.
No one wants to pay to stay on a domestic travellers site , for the weekend , and the toxic ambience it will exude.
Normally, or they used to when I had a touring caravan, state NO adria, hobby , branded caravans etc.
And no sign written vans or flat bed vans , tippers etc.
If your van isn't registered as a motor caravan, as long as it is "perceived to be respectable " with windows , shouldn't be a problem.

I've never had to produce my log book , proving "motorcaravan".
Not even for ferry bookings.
Maybe their automated system cross references with the dvla??

Got my van , none poptop , non high roof as a motorcaravan just before the rules changed.
If i move house or sell it , i think it will change to van with windows lol

I like this place, I especially like rule 2, what’s the criteria and who gets to decide? I think I’d like that job! 😅

Loads of places have rules about no professionally converted vans (maybe even C&CC and C&MH) and like has been said that’s in there to keep the chancers out so if you turn up looking like swampy and his mates direct from a 90s anti road protest they can kick you off

I doubt the undesirables mentioned above would set foot on a campsite, let alone one festooned with privacy screens and coffin dodgers towing rolling piss canisters.
I spent a week on one many years ago, lunatics mowing the same patch of grass every other day, toilet block with piped easy listening musak and plastic flowers by the wash basins.
I’d rather have a week sleeping rough in Beirut

Maybe you should name them as others might have had actual experiences there.

When they can't get on the village cricket pitch , or the local b&q car park is full , you would be surprised.

I always found the Somerset/Devon area sites liked these rules.

Their campsite, their rules lol.

The overnight campervan aire in Helmsley was stopped cos of the scruffy ba£%^ds

Looks like I´m always looking for the sites with strange T&C´s

- Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the passenger door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.
- Motorhomes must have fixed beds, side rear windows and kitchen facilities.
- Vans of any kind are not permitted on site.
- The following makes of caravans are not allowed: Hobby, Roma, Tabbert, lmc, Tec and Weippart.

Those caravan makes are associated with the "traveller community"... apparently.

When is a van a van and not a motorhome or car? Seems like they include these cover all statements so they can justify exclusion of anyone they deem not aligned to their world view.

Something that I am entirely in agreement with, assuming they would allow my camper[van] in.

If not then I think it’s completely wrong to discriminate in this way, is this not covered by the ECHR!

Agreed - such clauses are there just to deny anyone they consider undesirable, without the fear of being accused of direct discrimination.
