DPF THEFT: IMPORTANT WARNING TO ALL

I had an engine warning light come on (Amber) roadside assistance said it was DPF sensor and vw should change under warranty

Got to VW who agreed and booked it in

Turns out it was not the sensor at all! The entire DPF FILTER was hanging down minus its sleeve, the theory is someone was disturbed stealing it

Apparently it’s valued at around £1500 and very easy to pinch,

I’ve also asked them to put a locking nut on the spare (cost £18.00) as now 2 attempts to steal my spare have been thwarted in London and Bournemouth, a worthwhile investment

When someone pays a 'tuner' for a DPF delete, he's on a good little earner when he offers to get rid of the removed parts for them.

I think the locking nut references the spare wheel bolt and not the DPF.

I'm sure I saw a photo on the web of extra bits, like, a chain welded onto the dpf to make it harder to cut off.

Is that your opening gambit with MrsSkip?
That was the idea but sad to say I failed miserably when she discovered the cost, only had ST-X fitted a year ago and that took some persuading
