DPF EGR and engine longevity

Hi T6’ers,

I know this topic has been done to death.. but I still can’t see a consensus..

So, I have a 2016 140 DSG, it’s the CAAC engine, 120k in.. I’m keeping the van forever and want max mpg too:) I currently get around 46mpg.

Here goes…

I’m feeling that my EGR will be very clogged up by now, cleaning it is useless, and expensive to replace. Blanking and / or coding it out will benefit the engine heaps, and improve mpg and longevity… is there an upgraded DPF out there? Or a more efficient exhaust system? Will it make a difference? (I accept the legal aspects and emissions etc) I use high quality and regular oil and liqui moly flush etc..

Or should I just stick with it as is… what works? :)

If the van has never had a new EGR unit for 120K miles I suspect the EGR valve has been leaking for a long time and putting soot into the engine oil eventually with blow-by gases.
You could spend significant £ to get around the EGR / DPF but emissions control at MOT time is only going to get stricter.
