Dog proof setup

G’day legends,

Just picked up a Multivan Comfortline Premium SWB TDI340 DSG and I’m chasing some solid advice from those who’ve been down this road.

We’re an active crew, two big border collies that shed like crazy, love the beach and mud, and a little 10 month old bloke who naps with Mum in the back while I’m out chasing trails on the bike with the dogs. You get the picture.

I’ve pulled out the second-row seats and brought the third row forward, which gives us a great open space for a mattress setup. Works a treat for naps and weekend getaways. But now I need serious, maximum protection for the van, mainly the floor, but I’m keen on proper seat covers too. Something tough enough to handle wet dogs, sand, mud, the odd food spill or baby spew, but still practical and removable down the track when it’s time to sell.

I’ve already tried the usual suspects (Bedrock etc) with no luck fitting this custom setup. Heard of people buying carpet rolls and cutting it to size; happy to go down that track, just wondering if anyone’s got tips, hacks, or better solutions?

Also on the lookout for comfy, durable seat covers that can take a beating but still feel decent day to day.

Appreciate any recommendations, keen to protect the vehicle so it lasts us years of adventures and still scrubs up well when the time comes to move it on.

Cheers in advance!

Got some pics of what you have now?

We had a black Lab who could shed at Olympic level. We bought some rubber backed cord matting off the roll from our local carpet warehouse, & made a custom floor mat for our D4. It’s bomb proof, gets pressure washed as & when. Sadly we don’t have the dog anymore, but we now use the same mat in the van as a floor protector against ski boots/hiking boots etc. it gets dragged out of the van each day, brushed & shoved back in.
