disconnecting electrical connectors on a VW T6, does it mess with the CAN bus?

CANbus wiring on modern vehicles is well beyond me and rather intimidating. Can electrical connectors be disconnected and reconnected without issue or should this be avoided? My specific question relates to fitting a driver's swivel base, with will require me to disconnect a two-pin connector (a red and a brown wire).

Its nothing to be afraid of, if you are disconnecting control modules and important stuff then its wise to disconnect the battery first but just that underseat plug is not an issue

Mike, thanks for the swift response. The seat isn't heated, there is only one cable and it does disappear into the seat base at the back left-hand corner. So would that make it the pressure sensor? If you know the electrics well and can't think what else it could be, then it sounds like that is what it is. But I know nothing about van electrics

Is it the case that as long as you disconnect the vehicle battery, you can dis and re connect connectors without fear of issues with the vehicle's programming/CAN bus?

Yes but only really necessary IMO if you are digging in the dash/engine bay, if you are just fitting a swivel then you dont need to worry

Yellow coloured plugs are normally to with the airbag system.... So be cautious with them.

Defo ignition off. And possibly battery disconnected.....or you may get yellow warning lights on the dash.

(For people who may have airbags in the seats)
