Morning all,

Just wondering peoples suggestions / opinions / experience on charging a laptop (MacBook) through inverter via the leisure battery (while moving).

A lot of wasteage doing it that way, a dedicated 12v dc-dc charger would be loads more efficient. I found some on amazon.

no, as you will still have to plug your mains charger into that. I was describing this;

Ah ok ... didn't know such a thing existed ... sorry, should have said I'd need to also charge a PC at times .. but that certainly is an interesting bit of kit

There are similar chargers for pc, I have a universal one from Huntkey.

it will, but an inefficient use of power.

I have the same one, and similar chargers for my camera batteries, ipad and phone. Using an inverter to convert to AC only to plug in a charger to step that back down to a lower DC voltage to charge a battery is totally unecessary and really inefficient

I wouldn't use a cheap inverter either, they can damage your chargers.

True but it is for emergency use only when my camera or toothbrush runs out! .

I have 6 x USB ports in my van and they are sufficient. For 7 years I have had my MacAir laptop charger that fits into the cigarette socket which I got from the USA: does the job no issue.
