CarPlay echo on phone calls

The topic seems to have been raised many times but I can't seem to find a resolution, so apologies for raising this again.

I have a brand new t6.1 with standard media, when using apple car play the person on the other end gets an echo on the phone, this happens for calls using the phone what app, FaceTime audio etc.

The only way I can make calls without the echo is to disconnect from CarPlay and make the call using the standard builtin VW bluetooth. Which doesn't echo.

I raised this with the VW dealership who I bought the van from, they say it's a know issue and pointed me in the direction of VW. VW confirmed this and said they don't have a fix and don't have a timeline for a fix. I'm not Sure which direction to go, it's not what you expect when buying a new Van.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Versions:
Bluetooth: C250
Android Auto: S1.3_A0970
Apple CarPlay: 210.81

@wilko1979 Is this what you mean? If so I've tried it and it doesn't seem to make a difference

Mine is exactly the same, the worst echo i have heard on a variety of vehicles and bluetooth kits over the years, thankfully i dont use the van daily so have just lived with it :(
I dont plug in that much unless im going on a long trip and need the charge but am now in the habit of unplugging the lead if i need to make a call or the person at the other end just moans a lot !

I had the same issue, I fitted aWireless CarPlay and Android Auto Adaptor there are many different ones, I used the (OneNav Autocast), this sorted the issue with the echo.. no idea how but I tried everything and this worked for mine

Still got this issue, has anyone else had this?
Hi
I got my T6.1 Last march for work as my estate car was a bit too small (Octavia) I wish i hadn't, love the van but the poor hands free has cost me work.

Its been to teh main dealers twice and now i have contacted VWUK customer services, the guy was rude and didn't really care. They just want to kick it back to the main dealer.
My argument is that I wasn't informed of a TPI on the vehicle when i bought it so they should upgrade the head unit to a better model. This repair shouldnt be at our expense

OTTOCAST Mini Wireless Carplay Adapter

It solved all my issues with echo. I agree VW gave up on this when they know the t6.1 was end of line, there won't be a fix.

Thanks for this, if it works I will be sending VW an Invoice :) for the unit and my time. Does it work with Apple (might be a silly question)

Yes I have an iPhone 16 pro, I've used the wifi dongle for about 4 months now, it's been great

I too have bought an Otto cast unit and running a 16pro, need to get the van out for a drive and try it out as really hoping this is the answer for me as well, hardwired carplay has really been pissing me off lately with the horrific echo !

Then it will just be the terrible DAB signal to resolve and I may finally be happy 😊
Depending on the age of the vehicle, i think the aerial is in the passenger wing mirror (WHY????) apparently fitting an external or even a windscreen mounted one resolves the issue
