BIG NEWS! Busfest is going green! ♻
At Busfest we are committed to promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility at our festival. In partnership with The Three Counties Showground management and in accordance with the Waste Recycling Act 2003 and the Environmental Protection act 1990, we are working to reduce our eco footprint and the level of waste produced at our event.
We're sure you've all seen the photos from the aftermath of major events such as Glastonbury festival and were appalled by the level of waste left behind - 2000 tonnes that took 3 weeks to sort! Though they have many things in place to deal with this level of waste, the fact that it exists in the first place is simply not acceptable.
Going forward there will be a site wide ban on non-recyclable & single use plastics. This includes single use plastic bottles, non-recyclable plastics, & polystyrene containers
What does this mean for you?
Well, for starters our traders & bars will be using reusable or recyclable items such as reusable cups or recyclable cutlery
Campers will be given 2 bin bags in the welcome packs on arrival - one for any recyclable waste, and the other for non-recyclables. You MUST take home the bag of non-recyclable waste. If you can take home both that would be ideal, but if not feel free to empty the recyclable bag into the bins provided.
To be an environmental superstar

we ask that you empty the bags of recyclables into the bins instead of putting the entire bag in. This means you can take the bag back to camp and (you guessed it) reuse it!

It also massively helps our our Waste Management Team as these bags must be emptied and sorted BY HAND as they get tangled up in the sorting machine
We do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we hope that you can all understand the need for change
