Burning bl00dy oil

so it sounds like its not burning oil in the classic sense a la worn engine (ie blue smoke screen if using 2 litres in 400 miles )
but rather its consuming the engine oil as its "fuel" via the worn turbo shaft.
be wary of a runaway situation if its sucking those quantities out of the sump !!
with those quantities going missing the intercooler and boost pipework must be soaked in engine oil ( much more than the usual misting )
remove some intake boost pipework if you can and see how wet with engine oil it is

OK everyone...so the garage (Hoyles in Denholme) we took it back to have said they can't identify the issue and I need to take it to a 'specialist'. I sent them the below and they say they checked everything "they can" - it's been with them since Monday.

What would you guys do next?!

Issue:
1 Significant oil consumption – approximately 2 litres per 400 miles
2 No visible smoke from exhaust
3 No noticeable power loss
4 Slight reduction in fuel economy

Findings so far:
1 Engine undertray heavily soaked in oil
2 No oil dripping onto driveway when parked
3 No obvious external leak visible from above
4 Slight radial turbo shaft play noted (no obvious axial play)

Key observations:
1 No blue smoke under acceleration or at idle
2 No boost issues
3 No warning lights (other than oil when low)

What Needs Checking:
1 Turbo oil return pipe and gasket – check for leakage under running conditions (common failure point at
this mileage)
2 Turbocharger centre housing for external oil leak
3 Turbo internal oil seal condition – remove lower intercooler hose and check for excessive oil pooling
(small oil film = normal; significant pooled oil = possible internal turbo seal failure)
4 PCV / crankcase ventilation system – check for excessive crankcase pressure
5 Confirm oil is not coming from rocker cover, oil filter housing, or feed/return lines in turbo area

Important context:
1 Oil loss appears to occur while driving (suggesting pressurised leak rather than static drip)
2 Undertray soaked but no driveway drips
3 Primary suspicion is external turbo-area leak (oil return pipe or turbo housing), but internal turbo seal
failure needs ruling out via intercooler inspection

So a quick progress report! The Velle has been in at an independent place (ex VW master tech) with a loooong list of things to check. He's come having checked everything and the good news is that he's confirmed all is good with the turbo etc. and found a leak at the timing belt cover. He kindly shared videos so now it's time to go back to the garage that did the timing belt change and major service in January to put it right
