BMVS Edition Suspension - 5k Miles Review

So it’s been 5,000 miles since I drove down to BMVS and had their BMVS suspension fitted on my T6.1. The van is a kombi LWB with the OVANO drawer system fitted I would suggest I carry around 250kg at all times in the rear, increasing to well over 6/700kg at times. When loaded up there is no difference in how the suspension acts, even when towing 2.5 ton the suspension height barely moved, though this was helped by a triple axle trailer.

Having had a T6 with the Stx which at the time completely transformed by 90,000 mile Kombi, I wasn’t expecting much of an improvement with the T6.1.

The first thing I noticed was the back of the van was less ‘crashy’ over small/medium bumps compared to the STX. A perfect example is when the road has been resurfaced and there is a join which usually sinks and as a result both rear wheels hit at the same time almost exaggerating the road imperfection.

I drove a recently converted T30 LWB the other day and for the first minute or so of road driving forgot it want my van (visually identical) though the second I went around the corner even at 30 it felt like I had no control over how the van reacted, reminding me how planted the BMVS suspension makes my T32.

I’ve had people travel in my van and not even realise I’m not on standard suspension as the ride is so stock feeling, it’s only the van height that gives it away.

Whilst I fully understand everyone has a budget and this isn’t on the cheap side, I would recommend this set up to anyone. Suspension is something you notice everyday and I personally would look to save money else where that’s not as noticeable.

I had to travel for around 2.5 hours to get to Bognor, so if there is anyone in and around Bristol that wants to try my van out before making the journey, let me know.

What is the BMVS suspension? Bognor Motors sell different brands of suspension but I didn’t know they had developed their own.

Maybe Oli can provide the exact details, the stocks are Bilstein, developed for Bognor as far as I know. My setup is the Bilstein BMVS Edition height adjustable coil overs @BognorMotors

Thanks for the review. Great to know how much you’re enjoying it, in all your uses of the van. We love positive feedback.

It’s our best seller now and has been for a long time.

It’s been designed and developed by Bilstein UK and we’ve had it available for around 18+ months now. It’s a complete game change and works for all applications - Panels, kombi’s, people carriers and campervans.

Our official name for it is BMVS Edition by Bilstein.

Of course we welcome anyone for a test drive - come and see for yourself how good it is.

I recently had BMVS editions fitted to my Kombi which is on 20"wheels, my wife hated getting in my van i mean she would follow me in her Beemer to anywhere we went she hated it that much... all down to harsh ride lack of control around roundabouts basically anything that involved turning. Had the BMVS fitted whilst she was away on hols and picked her up from airport after, her face when we went to the car park and she saw the ginger machine awaiting dropped after 20 minutes of driving she looked over and asked what had happened to the van it was her words "smooth and comfortable" if thats not an advert nothing is...Thankyou Bogner Motors

Also on BMVS Bilsteins, 60mm lowered, very pleased with the suspension, was on an old military airfield a few weekends ago, was surprised how well it managed the fairly rough grass surface. Definitely not 'crashy' in any way (compared with two other vans I drove before I bought mine).

It's certainly quite firm on tarmac but that's the nature of the lowering and the big 265/40/20 wheels to some extent.

I've had mine for just over two years now after a couple of years with SoLows. @BognorMotors fitted both for me and I would happily use them again in the future.
A quick ride in a demo van convinced me to switch. They still had the firmness and control that was lacking from the OEM dampers but the extra travel allowed the low speed damping to be much more forgiving.
Obvious, with longer travel, but they felt just right to me.

That a full set of our coilovers fitted and adjusted to a height setting of your choice within the suspension range and finished with a full alignment on our hunter.

It doesn’t include top mounts, drop links or rear spring mounts

Hi Oli @BognorMotors

Are you still doing the BMVS suspension offer? Thinking either this or air? T32 4Motion.
