Bike rack / rear light clash on tailgate

Hi Folks,

Fitted a bike rack today, noticed RH rear light clearance fine, however LH rear light not!

Any thoughts on any next steps?

Many thanks

My old Chrysler voyager had exactly the same clearances, which went on to break the plastics! Get a tow bar carrier! My two penneth!

Look at the gap between the bottom of the light unit and the plastic section below it. The rear light ‘hooks’ onto two ball fittings on the outer edge and then two screws are tightened up on the tailgate lip. It’s possible that light hasn’t fully seated when the screws where done up.

Drop the rack back off and check the gaps. The tailgate may need a bit of realigning.
Yep, it's the tailgate, worder if it can be shimmed.. must be a normal procedure.

Awesome, thanks

The two tailgate hinges each have two bolts that enter the van, the four M8 nuts being tightened (with a box spanner) over a gasket.
Loosening these nuts will allow you to adjust it, with some assistance.
You may need to replace the gasket (they’re shaped, but a generic gasket could be shaped to fit, if it’s even needed. Genuine is part/no 7H0827365)
