Why would the rib not pass an MOT as a seat? The van is now at a stage where I feel I can rest. I have failed to film the latter half of the conversion due to camera and time issues so the timelapse conversion video fantasy is a fail.
Still to do is to install a fridge and diesel heater and have a pop top fitted. In that order. Rear view camera wiring for the android head unit is causing me issues but that's a september job and hopefully not too much hassle - rear bumper off and installing a voltage filter...
MOT on thursday. I will be opening the RIB out into bed so that it doesn't impede the MOT and isn't recognised as seating. Hopefully it'll be a pass...
Time and money for the next year will be spent on trips and my wife (who has been very patient and supportive and perfect)
This year, Newbie Hall Fireworks Comp this weekend, Dubs int Dales in Sept and probably a few firepit campouts on my own for to reset my busy mind.
Thanks to all for help, support and advice and I hope to repay with beer and a ctach up in the next month or so!
Thanks for reading my thread!
Pics to come in due courae
It probably would... I'm just paranoid as the van says it's a 3 seater on V5C and despite it having the rear bar fit in the sub frame, it's only bolted in on 4 of the 7 bolt locations (I won't be using it for passengers anyway) so when i get a new exhaust in a few years I'll ask them to bung the other 3 bolts in. Plus i bought it second hand and don't have the certication that came with it as the seller no longer had it.Why would the rib not pass an MOT as a seat?
The manufacturer will have the certification for the seat type approval. If they issue a certificate for the installation they would probably want to inspect it.Plus i bought it second hand and don't have the certication that came with it as the seller no longer had it.

Jolene?
Please don't take my van?![]()
Mate that’s looking really smart. It’s a completed van now. Well done.
Where you going to test it out?

Excellent.
I’ve got a big bottle of Maguires PlastRX plastic headlight cutting polish if you want to borrow it. It works well. I’ve used it on various vehicles including the van.
I use a buffing pad in my cordless drill without any issues.
