I ordered a new set of wheels and they arrived this morning :smile bounce:

I unwrapped the first and was shocked at how bloody big they are!
Put the first one on the rear and worried that these are too big.
I measured my original Devonports And believe these to be 8”

I then measured the new ones and these appear to be 10” ???

Am I looking at this correctly??
Here’s the two side by side

Yes I believe it’s Rim to rim when measuring the width so you are correct, should they have been 10”?

Think the tyres are making them look way fatter as they are bulging out past the wheel
I think normally you would measure lip to lip without a tyre on

Somewhere on the rear of the wheel it should tell you. It should have size and offset information on there. Usually ETxx for the offset and xJ for the width. A 10" will be OK on the rear if the offset is OK, but you'll struggle with a 10" wide front.

Also, what size are the tyres?

I’m measuring rim to rim and the measurement is definitely 10”.
I’m double checking my order now:oops:

The tyres are 275/40/20 106Y

I wouldn’t mind the 10s on the back, they look good but as you state I just can’t see there’s enough clearance for the turning circle!

Ok. So I’ve looked at the back of the wheel and it has 9Jx20.

however whichever way you measure the wheel rim width I can’t get it anywhere near 9”

This s inner rim to inner rim. It measures 9 3/4”

So either I’m measuring this incorrectly, the wheels are wrong or I’m misunderstanding the advice.

No, in your photo you are measuring externally. You measure internally between the 2 surfaces the tyre sits against. As in the pic T6180 posted. Your wheels are less than 10”. Maybe 9.5 max.

Edit: forum the last pic they are only 9”

Yep, they’re 9” wide. To really measure it accurately you need the tyre off so you can measure from the inside of the rim faces.

They will be fine if the offset is right.

Thanks @ChrisR , the offset is 45 so I assume this is enough clearance. They do stick out a fair but, exactly in line with the wheel arch:)

I've got 9" wide wheels with et48 offset, and there is ZERO rubbing.

45 should be OK. Are you standard ride height or lowered?
Standard ride height for the moment, but I will be staring up the suspension queries when I have my build finished.
I'm not interested in lowering anything beyond 30-40mm, and this is for handling characteristics in reality - plus I want to get rid of the sag that will arrive when I fit the kitchen.

You’ll be fine with those wheels and tyres at standard height and if/when you choose to lower it a little.
