Air-con Capacity

We haven't used our converted camper van in hotter weather yet, but I am aware that we could be asking a lot of the standard air-con to cool the whole of the van, given that in standard Panel Van format it only had to cool the cabin, because the bulkhead was in place.

I was thinking about putting in cabin screens behind the seats, which we would only use when we had the air-con going on the move, so that there was a much smaller volume to cool.

Is this worth doing, or am I trying to solve a problem that won't exist ? It's a 102bhp SWB model by the way, and we will be using it in the warmer southern European countries.

I would be interested in what other people have done and experienced.

Thanks,

Pete

I think your assessment will be correct. The compressor is smaller and all the vents are in the front. Others who've got experience might disagree.

I think I'm going to go with some sort of cabin divider and and see how things go.

Not a bad idea. I think a decent curtain type divider might work. Easy to open too if you want to.
