My parents in all their wisdom bought a T4 motor home last year, realised it was too small and bought a bigger one. ( They're 82 and 81 )
On their last outing, mam went ill and they haven't used it since so decided to sell it. Someone came to look at it and said there was damp in the ceiling so walked away. They took it to a motorhome specialist nearby where they have said it's not worth repairing as the whole roof is rotten and the sidewalls as well.
They have had the motorhome just under 6 months and bought it from a motorhome dealer. Have they got any clout on getting their money back as it's been rotting for quite a long time according to the specialists who have had a look at it.

If you bought off a dealer, consumer law gives you up to 6 months protection. If you're approaching the end of that period, you'd have to complain to the dealer pronto and you'll need to be able to demonstrate, on the balance of probability, that the issue was present at time of sale.

Cheers Bav. I've just copied and pasted your reply over to them now. Had a feeling they had a chance but was unsure of how long they had to make a complaint. Would it be under the unfit for purpose clause ?

I believe so, yes, though given your timeframe, I'd register your complaint now and look into the finer detail later.

Also, it would be helpful if you could get the specialist to put their thoughts/conclusions in writing - it would provide strong support for your claim that the issue was present at time of sale.

Cheers Bav.
I've told them to ask the specialist if they think the problem has been there for longer than the time they have had the motorhome. I'm guessing it has because it's totally rotted away and beyond economical repair. Their words not mine
