Adding ignition to dometic Pi8002 hob

Wonder if anyone can help? Just realised that the hob we bought hasn't got ignition, although the ignitors are there the piezo module is not attached. Can you buy an ignition module and wire it in?
Thought it was a bargain!

They are for the safety cutout if there is a flame failure so gas will stop (basically failsafe thermocouples)

We have electric ignition on a similar hob and to be honest it makes a racket when the push button is clicked in because the stainless steel top acts like a drum to amplify the sound so we just use a long wand type gas igniter and keep it in the drawer below the hob.

From Jackson's Leisure Supplies website..
Please note: The Dometic Smev PI8002 2 Burner Hob has NO ignition.

Can only find one type of unit that serves two rings and that looks a bit unwieldy.

Plenty of singles for about £5-7 each

Like @oldiebut goodie and @airhoguk said, they’re not igniters, they’re thermocouples. You override them when lighting by keeping the gas knob pushed in until they get hot enough to to send a signal allowing the gas valve to stay open and you can let go. Similarly if the flame were to go out they would go cold and shut off the gas supply. By the way, maybe search @oldiebut goodie previous posts and you’ll see his field of expertise and why he knew what he was talking about.

Hi Dave. Just to confirm this type of hob is only designed to be lit remotely. ie using a hand held piezo igniter (probably the best option), a lighter or taper. Under no circumstances should this type of hob be altered unless the manufactures instructions state otherwise. Hope this helps. (PV - Gas engineer)
