Adblue range on MFD

We are 250 miles from home. I have a 10 ltr container at home so will add that once we arrive home Monday.

I would start by checking the actual level the AdBlue sensor is seeing and also the remaining AdBlue range in the ECU.
These can be extracted from the ECU by using e.g. VCDS, OBDeleven, perhaps even Carista nowadays has included those in live data.

Also would be more than useful to verify engine's software is up to date - please post "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu).
I'll check Carista first thing, and let you know what i find. cheers

Thanks. There is a software update available - version 6166 - which would cure some glitches causing false alarms.

There are no faults registered in the ECU - did you clear any? In case of false alarms I would have expected to see e.g. P204F.

@Keith 81 had similar difficulties - even with updated ECU software. Not sure if the issue was resolved.

Thanks for the reply, yes I did clear initially the first time it came up and I did have that fault plus another one but I have had those lingering since I bought the van and thought nothing of it. I will check to see if it’s come back up but driven 150 miles since clearing. Just added some additive to the Adblue, fingers crossed this helps

I have been looking over on a Mercedes forum and it appears they also seem to suffer from Adblue issues and the sDealers sound as good as VW.

Also stumbled on the following you tube channel with a guy that seems to spend his time fixing Adblue crystallised injectors on Peugeots it seems, not sure if his methods are ’approved’ but it seems to work :

Thanks for the video, good to know it’s semi serviceable. Got my van booked in for diagnostics next week. Also bumped into someone who will remove the whole Adblue system for 300 from the ECU , effectively making it eu5 but no one would none the wiser. He said even if I got to the bottom of the issue Adblue would continue to be an issue as with merc’s . Unproven system apparently that just causes issues. See what the dealer says , if they quote silly prices will go with the ECU remap to remove the Adblue system, me thinks. Thanks for the video thought

Let us know how you get on. Not sure about mapping it out as heard mixed messages with what it actually does and whether it then passes emissions on the mot etc. the video ( he has a few on his site showing similar cleans) shocked me on how blocked up these things get and wondered if you can do that sort of clean on a transporter or not if required? As above mine now has the additive in to supposedly clean and prevent crystallising and so far no reoccurrences so will keep using it on top ups to see.

Yeah I will try and see what comes up first before remap, as highlighted an update is due on the ECU which might help, fingers crossed it’s just a blocked injector that’s causing it. Then I can try to just clean it as the video describes . Will let you know how I get on.

Ok so luckily a chap was coming to a job just round the corner from where i live. He has hooked up and reset every sensor , took it for a drive to see what fill levels were stating (130mm ish) added more adblue and the level reading was not changing. Has even run ECU software update and cleared and reset to no avail. Said i have a faulty sensor in the tank which means either remap or replace the entire tank @ £675 + vat + labour. gone for the remap for moment until i can afford to get it soreted properly. fingures crossed all goes ok, stated he will put it right as and when i need to. Have to say, it took him 5-10 mins to download and update the ECU. Quoted silly prices by the main dealer. Thanks for all the support from the forum, appreciated as always
Cheers
Daniel

Hi Daniel, any update on the adblue delete???? Has the van been OK without the adblue?
Morning, yeah been absolutely fine so far, no issues to report, will be doing a trip to wales next weekend so that will be first long distance run. Otherwise all seems good so far

Cheers Daniel

Cheers mate, I've been thinking of having it deleted....all the niggling issues with it are driving me bonkers!

Yeah it’s a totallly inadequate system. The chap stated he does them for loads of different vehicle mercs to jags and so on. Good luck with it if you’re going down the remap route . The chap I used was in ponty pool but offers a mobile service too. Also very reasonable as he did all ecu updates and checks prior to to offering the remap. Would only take your money if no other alternative. All in for £250 with life time warranty on the remap.

Hi Daniel
I’m thinking of getting my adblue mapped out as I’m having problems
All ok with your van ?
And MPG problems?
As I think my van drinks fuel when the 650 warning is flashing up
Thanks
Drew

Hi no issue at all, the Adblue gets injected into the exhaust after the engine combustion and only when it gets up to temp. It then reduces the nox by around 10%. So shouldn’t effect the efficiency at all ( my limited knowledge). Initially after having the Adblue mapped out, the dash did display Adblue but the readout was - - - . I then checked with my Carista and saw some warnings, cleared thenm all and it removed Adblue from the dash readout so you don’t have any knowledge that there is an issue. The one thing I haven’t checked and that is MOT test , however I have been assured this would not come up. So all in all very happy everything runs smoothly and the van runs great. No issues with over 1000miles done. This is my experience with it and do at your own risk I don’t accept liability if anything should go wrong. It worked great for me. Good luck with your remap!

Is the Adblu countdown an automatic one when the 650 miles remaining flashes up on the mfd as mine didn't register the previous top up and recalibrate and looking at the salt crust around the filler cap I've overfilled the tank when we drove up here to Glasgow from home in Northampton.
Going to see what the main stealer Lookers say, probably too busy but wondering whether to take a punt on one of the local diagnostic "specialists" if they might be able to clear the brain fart after siphoning some Adblu out.
Display says 450 miles remaining currently before Adblu engine start defy cuts in and we have to abandon the vehicle and walk home so probably going to have to abandon the tour of Yorkshire that was going to be the second week of this round trip.
Any thoughts people?

the local diagnostic "specialists" if they might be able to clear the brain fart after siphoning some Adblu out.

Before that perhaps the specialist could check the following XXXXX/YYYYY's by their diagnostics tool - if the values reported by Engine and Instruments agree.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 01: Engine
IDE03142 Remaining vehicle distance until reducing agent deficiency XXXXX
IDE10249 Reducing agent fill level sensor: act. value YYYYY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 17: Instruments (7E0 920 970 S)
IDE00778 Urea operating range XXXXX
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please post a picture of the AdBlue message on dash display.
