30mm Spacers All Round On Standard Suspension

@Jimmi

First pick with silver Devonports is 215's with no spacer. Satin black Devonports is with 25mm spacers all round. I'll get a pick of the Nokians with 25mm spacers tomorrow.

That's a striking image.:thumbsup:
How are you getting on with the BFG KO2's?

I couldn't get on with them, so sold the set within days

It might of been the combination of B14s on lowest, stiffest setting, and the large profile of the tyres, but it was very unstable and not very nice to drive.

Tyre selection is like motorhome selection; you are always dealing with compromise to some extent.

I had BFGs on a Pajero many years ago and they were utterly terrifying, felt like I was driving on marbles all the time. Junked them within a week and swore never to touch them again.

A good analogy, except my Motorhome ticks every box for me ;) but I know what you mean.

Yeah, they didn't feel brilliant. I don't really know what the issue was, but after about 20 miles of unstable driving, I knew it wasn't for me.

nice Pics mate cheers :thumbsup: I have T32 as well but I load mine heavy with bottles of helium and then drive off road! I’m leaving the suspension standard as I need the height but I’m defo fitting 25 mm all round. It’s very likely I’ll go to an all terrain tyre when these wear down. Or when I get bored:whistle:

Just ordered HR 25mm Spacers all round. Probably shouldn’t be spending £250 at the beginning of Jan but I’m blaming @Dicko24 and @sofakingwrong for tempting me with pics ;):thumbsup:Probably a silly question but can I put these on myself with a wheel brace and spanners etc. Or do I need a torque wrench?

Me personally I’d use a torque wrench for the wheels Davenport Torque
No specialist tools required, might need a mallet to get your wheels off as they have a tendency to stick. Get some pics up when your done :)

I think the only response to that question has to be "you need a torque wrench"; but a friendly tyre shop will do it for you, for a not un-reasonable sum.

My local tyre guy is a good bloke, a few beer tokens will sort it

With spacers your increasing the distance from the tyres contact patch to the pivot point of the wishbone. Effectively increasing the length of the lever. Is there any noticeable difference in the ride and body roll when you add spacers? The theory is thinking softer ride, more roll. But what's people's take on what happens out on the road for real?

I haven’t noticed anything..I fitted 50mm ones to my Defender years ago. There was no noticeable difference in the ride either but I was told I’d have a better turning circle.

Interesting thought, and conversely the wheel which is being lifted is further away from the pivot point, so its correcting moment is increased to counter. Anyway I will probably spend all night thinking about this; But the good news is I can honestly say I have never felt and difference in any dynamic aspect of the van after fitting spacers:). But I have clipped a few more Kerbs:(, and as for unsprung mass, and moments of inertia, well I've stuck to 17" wheels to counter some of this.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
