Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

I’ve somehow managed to get about 5 pages behind on this thread. Just caught up.
Love all the places that these vans take us.
We’ve had ours 5 years and we were talking yesterday saying that the van has been life changing for us. 5 weeks in Norway, 10 weeks in Spain/Portugal and loads of other foreign and UK trips that I won’t even mention. Loads of mountain biking trips and stopovers, so many T6 forum meet-ups and many friends made.
Keep on posting and inspiring people. I can’t be the only one that loves reading this thread.
My fav thread too...though it does go a bit quiet in the winter months so have to resort to sh**e tv !!

Just spent the last two nights at Camping La Source near Dieppe, weather not brilliant - high winds and rain, but the sun came out occasionally, managed a couple of bike rides so not too bad, now off to Cap blanc Nez near Calais for the last night, then Le Shuttle Wednesday morning

We've decide to bail from Krk tomorrow morning - the whole place is a bit too busy for us and yesterday the beach was like Brighton in the height of summer and you could hardly find space to throw a towel. We're going to head on another ferry to Rab tomorrow and see what it's like there. Earlier today though we went for a walk around the current site and came across these two pitched on either side of a couple of motorhomes - so about 20 metres and maybe 55 years apart. We were wondering what the range of the Buzz was with the load on board and how badly the other one stank of petrol fumes.

We are at Camping Rozac next to Trogir. It’s very crammed in. We are
Doing two nights which is enough with such little space. But the beach yesterday and today is pretty empty and swimming was easy with maybe 10 people in the whole bay at most.
Just having a local beer in Trogir, which is a stunning place.IMG_9174.webp

@Bigsidavies. We were there a couple of years ago on our way to Greece and it was the same - busy campsite / empty beach. It might have changed by now but at the time, the on site konoba was pretty good as well. Did you catch the boat into Trogir? When we went in daylight, it was packed out but much, much quieter at night. If they're still available as a freebie, make sure to grab a few of those little cotton bags of lavender from the basket in reception - hang them up in the van and they smell lovely.

I think I’d go for the petrol fumes any day instead of the face that only the mother could love.

Final full day in Pembrokeshire, weather relented and able to enjoy summit views from Carn Penberry, Carn Llidi and the four smaller Carns in between. Certainly an area for walkers to explore to their hearts content.
Heading North to the Barmouth/Dolgellau area tomorrow, hope the drive is not as wet as anticipated…

Yeah we did Trogir late afternoon by boat and stayed into the evening and got the 8.30 boat back. Stunning place.
Just about to leave and head up towards Zadar via Primosten.

Continuing our tour of the Welsh coast, the drive to the Mawddach estuary area was mixed. From St David’s to Cardigan was done mainly on instruments, then it cleared enough to enjoy the views. Went via Aberdovey where the Dovey River valley is badly flooded.
Set up now for 2 nights at Graig Wen, between Fairbourne and Dolgellau, which appears a very welcoming, adequately appointed non-franchise Site. A tab up Cadair Idris or a stroll over the 1 Km long wooden bridge for Market Day in Barmouth are tomorrow’s current options. Will see what the morning brings…

@jimc91. Presumably you’re at Orio Kanpina which is a good choice despite some rather ‘compact’ pitches. Did you know that you can get a train from town to San Sebastián which is worth the visit?

As foretold in my post on Tuesday, we left Krk and, rather than catch a longer distance ferry from Krk to Rab, drove over the bridge to the mainland and along the coast to Stinica for a much shorter (15 minutes) ferry ride to Rab. Looking at the view of the port, you wouldn't think that the other side of the island was green but it is, very. We're there now and camped at Valamar Camping Padove. As with a lot of Croatian campsites it's big and and the cheaper pitches are all in back to back rows but ours is plenty spacious enough for the van, awning and 'shed tent' but we've watched couple of motorhomes struggle to manoeuvre into them. The site has got sandy and rocky beaches which all look OK (but not tested yet) and all the usual facilities. The nearest sanitary block to us looks to be very recently fitted out and is very good. All in all pretty good for only ¢25 ACSI price.
It's a 2Km (ish) walk from the site into Rab old town along a well lit concrete path by the water or a 5 minute ¢3 ride on a water taxi. There's a few big yachts in the harbour and it was buzzing last night until things suddenly quieted down around 2200 hrs. We did our usual by finding an eatery one street back from the harbour and half the price and had some excellent grub.
This is our first time on Rab and certainly won't be the last. We're currently planning on sticking it out here until next week before probably starting a slow drive home.

Yep that was the site, stayed here before, short walk to the beach or into town, very popular site but booked ahead. Done San Sebastián before but a good tip for others as the campsites there are out of town,

We are at a bear sanctuary in the middle of nowhere in the mountains in Croatia.
Bumped into an English couple in Zadar last night that told us about it so this afternoon we drove 120miles into the mountains and here we are.
You can view the bears and you can stay in the van for free overnight.
Love an adventure.IMG_9238.webpIMG_9240.webp
And there’s a bar too.IMG_9246.webp
