Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

It’s bright like I’d like the weather to be. We’re at Seal Shore campsite for 1 night. It’s windy, it’s raining alternately with occasional sunny intervals. There’s folks in the sea. Someone’s brought a sauna to the seaside and they’re taking a cold plunge. Crazy folks.
Sea temperature in the UK is at it’s warmest of the year now.

Pembrokeshire bared its teeth today and some views reminded myself of the Falkland Islands. Rugged, intimidating and with an undercurrent feeling of hidden historical significance. That said, a small memorial to a USAAF Crew, who perished in fog on Carn Llidi (Shown) in 1943, was a visible example. Quite a thought provoking couple of hours…

Still at Camping Lopari on Losinj and despite weather forecasts to the contrary, it peed down again last night and where I hadn't adjusted the awning to allow the rain to run off, we had what amounted to a small swimming pool collect in it - the weight of the water was such that the underside of the awning was almost touching the table under it. Because of that, I had to get out of my pit at 0400 hrs (in my pants!) to push the awning up and empty the water as well as adjusting the poles etc. Ironically, the rain stopped not long after I went out and didn't return. We woke up to sunshine and it's been like that all day. We had a 2 Km or so walk into the nearest town this morning and spent the rest of the day on the very uncrowded campsite beach about 50M from the van. I flew the drone and took this picture - the town (Osor) is at the top centre and me, our brolly and beach shelter are near bottom left:
We left Camping Lopari (and Losinj) yesterday and took the 50 minute drive to the ferry port of Merag for the sailing to Otok (Island) Krk. It was all a bit mad as when we arrived the recommended 45 minutes before departure there was a queue of vehicles about 1 Km and we still had to get tickets tickets from the office at the port. Chatting to a Croatian guy, he reckoned it wasn't unusual and in high season they would probably just lay on another ferry between the usual every 90 minutes but wasn't sure what they would do now. Anyhow, in a rare moment of inspiration,I got on my iPad and bought our ticket as the queue started moving (slowly) onto the ferry but we didn't make that one or, indeed the next (extra) one) but we were the first car not to make it on that. Another one arrived quite soon afterwards and we were the first on (bottom right before the ramp). TOP TIP - When we caught the ferry to Cres, we bought at the ticket office when we told her the van was a T6 (less than 5M) and a camper so she charged us ¢32 (IIRC anyway) but when I bought online, through drop down lists showed a Transporter T6.1 Ocean as a 'normal' car at ¢21. Even though we're not a Cali, I selected that option on the basis that the ticket inspector probably wouldn't know the difference and it worked - all he did was look at the iPad screen for thew bar code and scan it.
After disembarking , we drove to Aminess Atea Style Camping and booked in. We arrived at about 1400 hrs and there was still plenty of room in the ACSI 'cheap seats' but they filled up during the course of the afternoon. We've been here before but the place has been completely redeveloped since then with new hard standing (gravel) pitches throughout the site and a lot more posh cabins, some with their own pools. It's all a bit sterile at the moment as they've done a lot of planting between pitches which has not yet had a chance to grow enough. That said, the toilet blocks are also all brand new and absolutely top drawer.
The site at Losinj turned out to be ¢27 per night ACSI price and this one is the same (non ACSI is currently ¢46!).
It was been cloudy but dry for most of the day but the sun came out late afternoon and it was baking. It got a bit chilly overnight (around 16 which is to be expected as we're now well into September).
Sorry about the lens flare on the second pic!

Do you use the ACSI app or have you got a physical card @Ayjay? Just wondering if there are any pros & cons.

Have a good trip. What was the crossing like? I recorded a gust of over 50 mph yesterday here on the N. coast of Cornwall. Was it a bit Hughie Green out in Biscay?
Left around 16.15, very bumpy once we passed the end of Cornwall, was quite rough over night but much calmer this morning - better than I thought. Seems the ferry is full of pensioners or bikers

I suspect you mean do we use the Camping Card ACSI Digital or Paper version and the answer for us is the latter - it's a bit of a contradiction but I'm both very techie but also quite like an old fashioned book. Just to confuse things, I also have the ACSI app on both my phone and iPad - it's basically a digital map which includes all ACSI sites as POIs and it's also quite cheap so why not? That said, I probably get annoyed at the app maps every time I use them as they don't have a scale on them.

Thanks guys,

@CRS Performance H&R Coilovers at approx 65mm drop,
H&R 30 rear spacers and 25mm front spacers. Tyres are Michelin CC2 235/55/17.

Hope that helps
I’ve just had a stressful couple of hours at Costco.
I paid for a set of Michelin Crossclimate in 235/55 17 103 load rated tyres last week

I went in to have them fitted. They questioned me changing from a 215/60C.
Ultimately after 2 hrs they refunded me.

Question. Are 235/55 17 103 tyres on Devonports ok?

Its not their job to think. Its their job to fit. They're aren't qualified to have an opinion.

They've told you, they can put a note on the invoice to cover their arses if theyre worried. Now they've lost business and inconvenienced a customer because theyre argumentative minimum wage prats.

Another reason I don't use Costco for rubber.

IMG_3975.webpI would have shown them the door sticker

@danncus As others have said. Yes those tyres are fine.

I expect that they were concerned that your new tyres aren't C rated which just means they're slightly more robust for commercial van drivers to smash up and down kerbs as they deliver your Amazonian boxes.

My door sticker doesn’t show the 235 unfortunately

There was no phone signal so I couldn’t show any info. The guy had made his mind up they weren’t going on anyway. As Sasquatch says a note saying I understand the situation would have worked for both of us.

I’m now undecided on to find some more Crossclimates or Rainsports.
