Wheel Alignment/geometry And Acc

Seen loads of comments that a vehicle with ACC needs an ACC calibration after or during wheel alignment.

Why?

I’ve had my wheels aligned and the complete suspension changed without calibrating ACC. I’ve never read anything saying you have to. ACC works fine

I think it's come from places refusing to adjust on vehicles with ACC.

Any here have access to the workshop manuals and can see what it says?

When I had a Touareg with the dual sensors, that needed wheel alignment before the sensors could be aligned. But I have had the alignment done 3 times on the T6 and not had to have sensors reset.

Same here, I’ve been lowered and aligned and it’s made no difference to the ACC

The VW book says to recalibrate the ACC after any work on the front end, steering, geometry, ride height etc.

Due to ACC being a life saftey system they are over cautious, but as you can see from above most people dont bother.

The calibration of the ACC radar sensor involves the angle adjustment so that the range and directional elements are to spec.
