What fuse size, a general rule.

As a general rule I was told to calculate the current consumption and then take the next size up. This was for three pin mains electric plugs.
I have also heard of people using the 'Engineer's Rule Of Thumb' calculate the size, and double the actual size.

I'm going to be buying and fitting a Renogy DCC50S 50amp DC to DC booster for my leisure battery. The battery size is not relevant here as I want to future proof it, and the 30-50amp upgrade is nothing.

So should I put a 60amp midi fuse in on each end or 100amp midi fuse in each end?

Thanks.

the fuse is there to protect the cable, so the fuse installed depends on the gauge of the cable installed.

the fuse requirements for the 30A and 50A version are detailed in the user guide. . .
