Weekend Awning

Hi all, I’ve recently added a rail and used our Vango Air Awning for a week trip to Cornwall. Great bit of space to live in. However, I feel it might be too much for when we just want to go away for a weekend, due to the time it takes to pack away, dry etc. The van isn’t yet converted so we are just sleeping on an ikea sofa bed in the back.

Are there any good quick and easy alternatives? Just to give some living/cooking space that can be quickly put away for when we pop out for the day? Thanks

Take I look at the berghaus air shelter and the Coleman event shelter.

By far quick and easy to deploy.

The Coleman has the strip that goes straight onto the side rail.

We also have a Vango drive-away air awning, plus a Debus sunshade which is great for one-nighters etc. but doesn't give much protection from wind or rain, so we're considering adding to the collection with the Debus air canopy with sides and front sections, for exactly the scenario you mention:

We use 95% of the time for short stops 1/2 days the Wild Earth Square Sun Canopy Awning. Takes about 5 minutes to put up and about the same to remove (if the weather changes quickly) They come in different colours as well.

Thanks all, that Debus Duo looks a good option due to the side panels. How do all these canopy style ones deal with a bit of wind?

We had a day of wind in Newquay and I was scared of driving off for the day with my Vango (partly my fault of having a wrong size Kador strip). I’m just concerned about it hitting the van or taking off?

Are they also as quick to put away and easy to store as they state? Thanks

The basic Debus canopy (not the Duo Air), probably as with the Wild Earth Square, is very quick and easy to put up and take down. Probably easier with two people in a wind, but manageable on your own. It's light and compact (packed away in its bag, it's smaller than our camp chairs).
I think the Duo should be much the same, with the option to attach / detach the side and front panels depending on conditions etc., thereby giving a convenient compromise between the full drive-away set-up and the simple canopy....
But I'm still undecided....

Can recommend the Debus air canopy. Really quick with just the one beam. Handles any weather. Small to chuck in the van. Sides and front are great to suit the needs of the occasion

Plus 1 for the debus air with sides and front. Crap in the wind tho. That said I’ve pretty much now just stuck to using the outdoor revolution cayman air. With an electric pump on duty I can put it up in around the same time as the debus and pack down is also quite quick, due to the single air valve. It’s a game changer.

I also have a wild earth canopy I’m about to sell if you want to go that route.
