Maypole Drayton awning question

Quick question: We are looking at getting a smaller awning for when there are only two of us in the van and we don't need such a huge amount of covered space. Looking online I can see one called the Maypole Drayton which looks around the size we are looking for, but unlike our current Coleman awning it doesn't appear to have the groundsheet permanently built into the structure. There doesn't appear to be anywhere within a reasonable travelling distance where we might see one on display, so I am hoping that someone on here may own one and be able to tell us how the "clip-in groundsheet" works and if it keeps the rain out or not?

Advice on other small awnings that might suit our needs would also be welcome.

Thank you

Hi Ivy and Martin

I don't own one but from what I can see online they look okayish??? but I'd definitely share your concerns about the clip in groundsheet. Online sellers seem to not mention much about the system and photos seem to obscure that part of the setup - Amazon only shows the below and go outdoors have even less photos and I am guessing they don't display one as delivery is directly through Coleman.

This design is similar to a Vango Kela 3 that are good too with integrated ground sheet. Possibly a little larger than this coleman tho

I will assume your coleman is the sort of size of a vango galli 3... I have a Vango cove 2 air awning with integrated ground sheet and it's really good. I'd say it's small to mid size and provides easily enough room for me and the Mrs and all the kit.

There's a Cove 3 for sale still on here i think for good money.

Anything smaller than a cove, I'd probably just get a canopy with sides - witch is what this maypole drayton resembles in my opinion- you can tell I'm team Vango hehe

Good luck in your search! apologies

The Vango Faros is a bit more than the colemen but the same sort of size if you want a poled unit in that style

The Vango Faros looks good, will investigate further, thank you.

It seems the poled version of the Vango Faros is out of stock everywhere, I've been looking to get one!

Annoying isn't it? I suppose they only make the number they expect to sell between spring and autumn and when they are gone that's it.
