Weekend Awning

Have you tried to slide both beading strips in together ? might be a fix?
Yes, but unfortunately they won't both fit in my rail.

Incidentally, although not visible in my photos, there are holes in the rear corners of the canopy that will take poles, and straps provided (for securing over a vehicle without a rail) could be used as guy ropes, so connecting to the van with the drive-away Kador does also give the possibilty of leaving it on site. (Reconnecting later might be a bit tricky of course, but it's very light and easy to move, so doable)

Bugger, `the kador strap should work but I would test first as strange it is sliding out of rail. Fingers crossed.

It is strange, as I also have the original Debus sun canopy, and the Vango drive-away, both of which are perfectly secure in the Reimo rail. Visibly the beading on the new Duo canopy looks the same (I don't have a digital caliper to accurately measure it) but it's either slightly less than 6mm, or the beading itself is softer and therefore able to squeeze out of the C channel when any tension is applied.
Funky Leisure were very apologetic and did offer to refund me if I wanted to return it, but for all the reasons I outlined in my review above, I really want to keep it, so will just use the drive away Kador. It will be interesting to hear from anybody else with one, to see if it's just me!

We also have a Vango drive-away air awning, plus a Debus sunshade which is great for one-nighters etc. but doesn't give much protection from wind or rain, so we're considering adding to the collection with the Debus air canopy with sides and front sections, for exactly the scenario you mention:

I like the Debus air sunshade, I guess this would be more stable than the pole version I already have from them

Can't say I've had any issue with the poled sunshade re: stability, but yes, the air Duo does seem pretty sturdy.

Standard sizes for kador are 4 and 6mm , if your reimo wont take a 6 then your gonna have problems.

Just to be clear, both my Vango drive-away kit, and my Debus original sun canopy, have 6mm kador beading. My Reimo multirail takes them both fine. The issue with the new Debus Duo is that the beading seems to be a fraction smaller than 6mm, and as a result pulls out of the C channel.

Could you run some Duct/Gorilla tape along the length of the beading, to increase the diameter slightly?

I have some self adhesive canvas repair strips which I was thinking of trying. Since it only seems to be pulling out at the front end of the rail, I think I might get away with just doing a short stretch.

Good quality stuff Debus, if the the external black out blind we bought is anything to go by.

A short stretch being only the final 20 - 30mm and gaffer tape will do. Keep that in and the rest stays as well. Pic still to follow!

Here you go - simples. There's a double layer of T-Rex Tape (IMHO the best gaffer tape you can buy) on each end that's been on there for at least 3 years years and the kador has never come out of my Reimo Multi Rail since I stuck it on - a single layer would probably have done the job but double made sure of it. Before I did it, the kador always came out eventually especially when the guy lines were really cinched up in readiness for bad weather. Top Tip - Give the kador a wipe with Isopropyl alcohol before sticking the tap on to ensure maximum adhesion.
Kador Tape.webp

Thanks for that, I will definitely give it a go.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who has come across this problem. Equally good to know that whatever problems any of us may encounter, there's always someone on this forum ready to help with a solution
