Hi I’ve got a 2017 vw t6 2.0 tdi 150
On start up it has developed a engine shudder/knocking which last only a second or 2 and then engine runs completely fine, it doesn’t matter if the engine is hot or cold it does it every start up (even start/stop) I have checked the basics such as engine mounts etc and all seem fine, the engine don’t move that much but it sounds as though a engine mount is bad and the engine is knocking back and forth, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Any coolant loss?
If so suspect a leaking EGR cooler or leaking charge air cooler if fitted.

I haven’t yet as I don’t have a code reader, would a code show a EML light etc or not always? Thanks in advance

Not necessarily, Carista is a good tool, available from Amazon.
There’s an annual subscription.
Live Data function would allow you to monitor the fuel pressure and injector performance.

Just to add - you don't need the annual subscription to read the codes. That is just for if you want to change some of the settings/reset codes etc.

Carista Beta is a test / development mode, has some extras, website explains. I think you need a subscription for that.
Anyway as far as I know you get 30 days free subscription when purchasing, check that’s actually the case before signing up.
