I'm new to the Forum and was looking for advice and price (any rough guesstimates are appreciated at this point) with regard to either getting a reconditioned or repaired & rebuilt CXEC engine, for a 2019 VW Caravelle 2.0 TDi 199. (c 79,000 miles)
I haven't bought it yet, the current owner has said the Oil pump went and seized the engine. (I've done the math on the purchase price and potential final value, so it's just the middle part that I could do with some help with, thanks)
I have been searching the threads and noticed that sometimes it could be something else that has led to this happening, like a blocked DPF, faulty turbo etc?
The bottom line is, if it's fairly straightforward, then I would consider buying it, but if it has the potential to be a money pit, then I'll walk away.
I see recon CXEC engines from Germany from £1300+ delivery, but are there import charges/taxes also to be paid? I've also enquired at a few garages in the London area, who would prefer to inspect it 1st.
Also UK engine recons etc, from c£2500+
A worst case scenario would be very much appreciated folks, thank you.
