Correct. With the engine off there is no output on the Orion.
This is mine as we speak, sat in the van having breakfast in Saulieu in France.

Cool, the manual is one thing but good to have confirmed.

The manual for your charger says:
When the Orion Smart is on Off state, it will not measure the output voltage, so this value will appear as '—'
Therefore, whilst it's always possible something is wrong, the output voltage not being displayed in your app is entirely consistent with how the device operates.
The question is then, why isn't it charging if the engine is running? To answer this, go back and read my post at 16:39 above. If you can kick the alternator into firing, you should then see it charging in the app - and you can then also verify that it's actually charging the battery correctly.
The input voltage is the voltage of your starter battery, so no, it doesn't tell you anything about the health of your leisure battery.
It will monitor how much power is being produced by the panel, how much it has historically produced over time and the current charging state (much like the DC-DC app).
No problem, it is worth reading around though, so you have a basic understanding of how the system works so that you can understand what it's up to and when you might have a problem.

What monitor are you talking about that goes from 5 to 2 bars? So, I had a look after 5 mins driving on school drop off and it was showing the first two screen shots, although it was notable that the input voltage varying slightly every couple of seconds. The second couple of screen grabs were taken this evening after about 20 mins driving with heater fully warmed up...something has clearly kicked in at that point...does this all look fairly normal?
I have noticed that my battery seems to discharge over the course of a week even though I've only using it to go to work and done no camping past few weeks. It goes from 5 to 2 bars on the monitor in van in the course of a week. Admittedly its not getting much charge on my short journeys but is it normal to lose that much charge I a week?
Thanks again, Mark

The one that came with set up ( pictured)As to your other question, it really depends what five bars to two bars actually means in terms of state of charge. It's probably relying on simply voltage thresholds so is probably not very closely calibrated to your battery. The important thing is that you don't have any meaningful drain when it's just sitting there - e.g. leaving a fridge on or something, that would
That would be helpful..many thanksAfternoon all!
If its the Sargent panel - same as i have in mine like this:-

Then, the battery status is given based on voltage alone like this:-

Is this the same panel you have in your van?
With regards to the engine shutdown detection, you just need to change the shutdown detection settings in the B2B charger to overcome that.
I will share my settings that work well in my T6.1 if needed
In that case, if its an AGM battery and its regularly below 11V then the battery may be not great condition. The one that came with set up ( pictured)
Like you say, I'm unsure if theres too much to gauge by the bars. It was on 2 this morning and upto 4 when I got home after 20 minute drive.![]()
It would appear it’s this unit VEGAS Control Panel 12v Battery/Water c/w Surround Caravan Motorhome BC21008 - Caraquip
Solar isolation switch is in off position. Here's best pics I could get in dark of battery and consumer unit. Thanks....
