No, “poking fun” is just that - introducing a degree of humour.
The members on this forum self-regulate very well. Bullying isn’t tolerated.
I fear my 11- and 13-year old boys would shred such a sensitive soul. I consider myself to be pretty quick with a witty response, but on occasion they’ve wiped the floor with me!
And that attitude is why you got the responses you got.
If you can't be bothered to put in the effort to form the questions you need answers to, why the hell would you expect others to put in the effort to provide you with answers?

If you literally join a thread with a googleable question or a query you could potentially find an answer to using the forum search engine, without doing a basic search (or at least without stating that you have done a basic search) then the long established (grizzly) forum members will gently bite. It's quite common for newbies to come on board, ask a question they could have googled, or searched for on the forum, because they are either after a human response tailored to their very specific situation (anxiety based/ADHD) or they are just lazy (ADHD / LOL). 
they then get a priceless and tailor made plethora of answers and advice from numerous members who have put time and effort in to help and then the new member just disappears without a thank you. So when some forum members reply with 'google is your friend' etc. It's likely coming from a place of hurt or frustration from past trauma. Also very likely the info is here on the forum already and they know it.
@smartiepants you potentially have a bit of rejection sensitivity but it isn't warranted. We all are quirky, some of us are down right rude but actually very well meaning I am a major waffler for example and also a complete berk, and we will do our best to help if we have time. Poking fun can be interpreted many ways and every individual receives it differently. Be assured, no insult was intended but also consider your audience of complete strangers and how they may have interpretted your (googleable/forum researchable) request with no evidence of any effort beforehand. Have you ever seen the savagery of Mumsnet? sheesh... you have had a very mild gumming, if that! hehe
Point 1 - Google the wheels you have, google if there are white ones anywhere for sale online - no luck? go to point 2
Point 2 - Google the specific paint colour of your van or create a pallet of the various colours in your graphics and enquire with local spray shops near to you - any luck? go to point 3
Point 3 - search the forum for spray shops near you, search for white alloys, search Wheels sizes and basic wheel advice - any luck? go to point 4
Point 4 - Tell the forum your query/issue and explain what you have done so far
Does anyone know any vendors of white wolfrace 18s (what style of wolf race?) in Hampshire area, can't find anything on the forum or on google. Or can anyone recommend a spray shop in/near Hampshire that will spray my wheels white (paint code *****). I'm new to the scene and not sure who to trust with my pride and joy. Sorry if this is covered on another thread. Cheers

Agree with this (other than the labia bit - I have no basis upon which to form opinion on that), but humour - feeble, acerbic or otherwise - also plays a role in keeping the forum active. If we were merely a fact-swapping community, it would soon become stale and wither on the vine.
