One of my rears did that, luckily I was doing about 5mph when it went.
Lesson for me was always check for wear across the whole tyre, especially the rear.
And I got some Powerflex adjustable polybushes fitted at Bognor and my rear tyres are now wearing evenly across the whole tyre.

Cheers, just managed to get off an A road into a service station so was quite lucky. Wouldn’t want to be changing a tyre on a dual carriageway.
