Turtle roof bar removal

I need to replace the bolts in the clamps, and assume I need to unscrew this cap to access the bolt below. The caps seem to be extremely tight, and am just rounding the corners trying to remove them, and dont want to completely destroy them if I can help it. Anyone have experience removing them? I have seen a few images of the bars for sale on this forum, and the caps dont appear to be damaged by attempts to remove them.

They can be a pig to remove, I squirted WD 40 on the gaps and left them for a whilet, They are push fit, but if you can lubricate them, then with an allen key slightly twist in either direction to get more lube in, dont just try and assume they will twist out with brute force.

I had one missing, and couldn't get a new one from suppliers but made my own out of rubber, and it cant be seen.

cheers Ali
