Tried to book warranty work lol

So My 6,1 has an odd splutter about 1800 rpm between 3rd and 4th gear , also the drivers inner door seal has fallen apart on the bottom.
I just called vw wrexham they are not booking any new Warranty work until May !!!!! mine runs out in April lol
Now I bet if was paying it would be in a lot sooner .

They get paid by the importer for warranty work, so there's no incentive to put you off because it's still an earner for them.

Indeed, it's their bread and butter and it's hard to make a profit without it, hence there being so few Honda dealers.

If they're rammed with work they're rammed with work. Try some others.

Just emailed Bilston, it's all time Hereford or Droitwich are getting too far to be worth it.
I'm amazed that Wrexham have a 5 month lead time for service work. They have always been relatively swift in the past

People leaving the trade / dealerships, obviously helping a lead time either.

I've just left the dealer, to start at an independent specialist. The lead time at that dealer was 3 months at the earliest.

Ideally, they'd want to be getting you in earlier.. at least to clock onto the jobbcard / run an ODIS test. So that the vehicle was initially looked at whilst under warranty.

The terms of the manufacturers warranty are quite clear on that point - the repair must be completed while under warranty, not merely diagnosed. How flexible the importer, VW UK, would be on that is open to question.

Of course, if there aren't many dealers about because the retail motor trade is going down the toilet, and the few that are about are booked to kingdom come, then what's a man (or woman) supposed to do?

Im just going to pay for it at my local indipendent vw specialist , its my work van we need it on the road .
Its an issue like all skilled trades austerity and underfunding of FE education for years is starting to kick the country up the arse not enough young folks can train and get into any trades at the moment ,trying to employ skilled labour is super hard ,I feel desperatly sorry for school leavers now we have let them down as a nation.

It's not just a funding issue - since the late '90s, vocational education has been framed as inferior and the narrative that school leavers need to be university educated has been all-pervasive.

There's increasing pushback now, but the damage has already been done - the educational infrastructure for trades has been all-but dismantled, leading to a shortage of training opportunities, and the proliferation of university courses designed to accommodate entrants who would previously have been deemed unsuitable has widely devalued grad and post-grad qualifications.

I allways thought that provided you reported the fault before the warranty expired you would be covered for it even if it went over the expiry date.

Alas, the (now long expired) "welcome to your new vehicle warranty" booklet folded in with my service book, the t's and c's in very fine print (almost unreadable even witn my glasses) makes that point very clear. If it ain't fixed and the dealer invoice dated within the warranty period they ain't paying. A sympathetic dealer might be able to pull a wheeze on that last part...

Ditto for the extended warranty, and the used vehicle warranty (which is actually a mechanical breakdown insurance policy and not a warranty at all).

Speaking from experience, if the vehicle is diagnosed in the warranty period.. then it will be paid by VW.

They may be flexible, but I wouldn't gamble a big bill on it.
