Treating Cut Body Panels

After some advice regarding cutting holes in my van. I need to fit a couple of bulkheads to get solar cables in and light bar cables out of my roof.

I have a good bit for doing this which I’ll run on a high speed drill.

Other than deburring the edge once cut, is there anything I should treat the raw edge with? In theory it shouldn’t get wet (whole point of the bulkhead), but want to give it the best chance of not causing me future issues. I’m guessing lacquer might be the best option?

Thanks.

I think any thinners based paint will be better than nothing / bare metal. If its inside a bulkhead gland then colour not important.

Do you have any old touch up sticks or Hammerite paint?

I’ve been using this stuff for decades on external steel, never any issues as long as it’s properly coated.
It’s a primer but I rarely overcoat it. So far I haven’t seen anything better.

Thanks both. No touch up sticks, but I do have a tin of that hammerite stuff you’ve just reminded me of, so will stick some of that on!
