Attached are some pics of my towbar electrics.
I changed out my bench seat back to my captain's chair and while lifting it in I caught the wires and one came loose.
Can anyone tell me where this red wire goes please.
I would say the switched output of the timer box
Check the screws and hopefully you will see one of the terminals is either unscrewed and the rest arent or one has screwdriver marks on the screw head ?
Your talking to a wiring novice here.
I'm assuming you mean pin 10 of the multi plug.
When you say cobbled together....should it be done in a different/safer way?
This was installed before I purchaced the van.

the clear/white 2 pin plug is what westfalia use to supply the switched live to pin 10 on the socket at rear of van. there is a proper kit with correct plug available but it looks like whoever did yours didnt fancy using the correct parts and just used normal terminals. there should be a relay somewhere close to what you have there.

if i recall correctly pin 10 is the switched output when battery voltage increases (used for fridge in the caravan typically?) the module in the lower part of the 1st photo looks to be that very relay...on the left 0V and +12V...on the right a couple of switched outputs (which assuming it is this module will be +12V when the engine is running) and by the look of it, a permanent live at the top.
i'd speculate your rouge wire is out of that module, probably the middle right, but possibly lower right terminals as shown in your 1st photo. as @Pauly suggested if the wire has pulled out there is a strong likelihood the terminal it was pulled from will now be loose (as its not got a wire in it to clamp down on), it the installer is worth his salt, all other unused terminals should be tightened up. stick a screwdriver across all of those terminals in the module and the correct location for that wire is the one that is loose.
