Good day guys,

After what seems an exhausting search, I have finally decided to go down the conservative R18 wheel route rather than the R19 or R20s.

Looking at the VW site they suggest that for an 8JxR18 and with an offset of 50, I should be running 255/45/R18 for a T32 and 135/50/R18 for a T28/T30

Why do they suggest a different width for a T32 and another choice for the T28/T30, surely the only different in the load rating required?

Does anyone have any recommendation for correctly load rated tires in 255/45/R18 for a 102PS T30 ?

Xswind,
I have just gone through a very exhaustive and time consuming process with my T32...
Basically the T32 has a higher tyre loading requirement than the other T's.
On a T32 you need at least a 104 load rated tyre and thus is the problem....this limits your tyre choice regarding size and pattern.
Im no expert on tyres or the vans themselves but what i do know is that i have today found the right combo for me. Tried and tested on the truck, on a ramp and on the road.
By the way, i live very rural, up a 1400ft hill, up a 1in4 stoney track so 20s or anything with a normal road tread isnt an option, so my choices were even more limited.
Anyway i have 18" x 8 wheels (again load rated for a T32) and a 235/55/18 (104H) General AT3 All Terrain.
They handle and look fantastic. I have used the AT3 many times and they last well, 35k on a Discovery and are quiet.
Hope this helps you choose a combo!
PS i can recommend the wheel chap and the tyre chaps....West Midlands based.

I'm running Falken Ziex ZE914 235/50-18 101 on 18"x8" sportline alloys on my T30.

Sufficient load rating for T30 and a very under rated tyre with a strong sidewall.
