Things to look for when buying a second hand transporter

Go for a 2016 Euro 5, Euro 6 seem to be a mine field from what I’ve read.

Don't panic over rust in the bootom of the door seal, VW use cheap metal in the seal. It's £30 thirty minute job to fix and isnt actually part of the chassis or panels.

Does it have LED headlights? if not, try to book a test drive in the dark on unlit roads.
The H4 headlights are rubbish at illuminating the road ahead, which is their only job.
I wouldn't by a T6 without LED headlights, in hindsight!

I bought a seal from T5 & T5.1 Side Door Seal For Front Door - Drivers Side - Vee Dub Transporters

Fitted it myself in about half an hour. You have to loosen the trim all the way around whihc includes removing the grab handle and sungalsses holder (just a few hex screws). All other fittings are push fit and can be removed with a trim tool.

I looked for ages for a video on thisbut couldn't find one. But the seal just pushes on, then replace the trim.

Hi, I'm 2weeks in with a used 2016 California. On our first trip I noticed the seals bulging slightly and cleaning the van on return found rust on all 3 door seals. I feel a bit of a chump for missing that when checking the van out, but it's history now, although I wouldn't have expected this in a 4 year old VW.... I guess now I know better! I looked at the Vee Dub seals... I see there's metal in these. So the rust I'm seeing on the my seal is actually metal in the seals and not the van body?

How did you find taking the A pillar cover off? Mine seems to be needing quite a lot of force so I’m scared I’ll break it
