Hello,

Since I have already received detailed help here, I would like to give something back! I retrofitted rain and light sensor WITHOUT CHANGING THE WINDSHIELD!

Wiring loom RLS:
I built the wiring loom for RLS by myself, because I still had wires left over.

1x 0.5mm2 red/white
1x 0.5mm2 brown
1x 0.5mm2 violet/yellow
1x 0.35mm2 grey

Plug RLS VW 1C0 973 119
RLS VW 5K7 955 559
Holder RLS Aliexpress
Gel film
Light switch with automatic function

Connection RLS -> BCM
G397 Pin1 -> T73b/39 red/whiteKl30 or SC53
G397 Pin2 -> Ground brown near unlocking engine hood
G397 Pin3 -> T73b/24 violet/yellow

Light switch -> BCM
T10bb/2 -> T73a/37 grey

How it looks after installed RLS holder

It is important to stick the adhesive film of RLS holder onto the window first.
Only install rls after 24 hours!

The following must be coded for the RLS in the BCM with VCDS. In addition, I increased the lighting duration for the LH from 15 seconds to 30 seconds

Everything works perfectly, including leaving home, automatic driving lights and automatic wiping when it rains.

@Jan_B: Did you install the sensor with the metal spring/plate or w/o? And is the sensor film is fully pressurized to the glass? I was not so lucky, but it seems it covers all the sensor "holes".

I did it opposite way, it doesn't look good, next time... :rolleyes: I think yours has to looks quite nice, without bubbles.

Yes I installed the sensor with metal spring.

I did this job also twice. Unfortunately, after a few months, it ended up looking just like yours.
If I remember right, I used extra glue on the second attempt to secure the mount to the double-sided tape.
It is important that the double-sided tape adhered to the windshield without any air bubbles; the rain sensor exerts extreme pulling force, which can cause the mount to pop off.

Here's an old photo..
Unfortunately, bad quality.
