Hello folks, i have a recurring issue and its doing my head in!
a couple of hears ago i had a vibration when driving and ended up replacing the driver side drive shaft......all seemed good.
then 2 and a half months ago i had an awful clacking noise when driving....turns out the hanger bearing on the driver side shaft had basically fallen apart and it was rattling around on the shaft.
that part alone was very expensive so i replaced the whole shaft with a new hanger for around the same price from Heritage parts. (it was a Meyle shaft so was the old one that failed)
yesterday i noticed a weird rattle noise that sounded almost like a loose heat shield, something metal vibrating.......today its worse and when i checked the same thing has happened again!!
what could be causing this? i'm guessing that the long part of the shaft as it comes out of the gear box isn't spinning straight so wondering if it could be an issue with the stub shaft? i didn't replace the stub shaft.
the ball joints, and wheel bearings were new a couple of years ago and the drop links were done this year, everything feels tight and no play.
I'll now need to replace the hanger but surely it will just happen again?
oh, one thing to add......i recently did the top mounts(about a month ago), both were shot......i wonder if those being shot could have caused the hanger baring to fail prematurely?
HELP!
