Aftermarket driveshaft part numbers

Need to do my drivers drive shaft on 2016 T6 102 5 speed manual.

I’m looking for an aftermarket drive shaft and stub (due to expense and lead time on OEM parts) but struggling to understand if the OEM part numbers are compatible.

My current drive shaft is part number 7E0 407 276 K but the part numbers referenced by aftermarket suppliers are something like 7E0-407-272 with letters A/AB/AN etc.

Looking at the datasheets they have the correct length, splines etc.

Can anyone shed light on the part numbers and if they are compatible?

I’d ask the suppliers by email giving them the VIN, if they say it’s compatible and it’s not you have grounds for a return.

I'd be keen to know this aswell as I intend to swap ours out .

Yeah I suppose as DXX says above , if the supplier deems them as suitable for your application then at least you have some come back if they turn out not to be correct .

It’s been quite the saga and I’ve ordered what I think are the right parts.

I wasn’t sure if my drive shaft was original so I use partslink to check my VIN. I think this is a great tool BTW worth the subscription fee for a month to easily look up parts.

Anyway it appears one side been replaced with a different by compatible OEM part.

Next hurdle - I’m over in Aus and it seems all the part numbers are different from the manufactures data sheets.

GSP have great PDF catalogues where you can find the OEM part number and cross reference. They even have other aftermarket competitors part numbers to cross reference. It’s a hefty 2000 pages so searching takes a while.

Meyle seem the preferred aftermarket drive shaft but you can only get the part catalog in a mobile app which is a chore and it’s a poor app IMO.

Anyway even after finding the correct GSP part number it turns out all the distributors use different part numbers in Aus… so I’ve ordered what the distributor recommended.

In europe I think it will be easier. Multiple places stocked the part number from GSP I was looking for.

Hi mate, I've just going through the same process...Cheers for pointing to the GSP catolog = VERY HANDY...so I rang a few suppliers here in Oz, requesting the comparible/equivelant OS part #...no luck...did you order in hope or, were you certain the driveshaft was the correct fit...?
