Which physicists told you that?
Yeah won't improve fuel efficiency as far as I know but look up Pendle Tuning, they know what they're doing and have agents all over.
180 and 204 are the numbers that make me shudder when mentioned in the Forum.....
I'm not against remapping, but don't do it because you think that it'll ever save you money.
Even if it gave you an extra 2 mpg it'd take decades to pay for the cost of the remap.
I had my 150 Tdi Caravelle remapped by @BognorMotors using Revo software along with a TVS DSG remap and it definitely improved fuel economy, regularly see 50+ mpg with a long term average of 46mpg and consistently get 650+ miles from a 70ltr tank of diesel

I get that from my short-geared 5 speeder with the factory map.
BTW, don't believe a word the GoM (Guess O'Meter) says. Work it out the old fashioned way because the MFD is a work of fiction.
150s got enough power but the gearbox map is deff an improvement
Would it be reasonable to say that with a manual gearbox you can get the driver remapped, I say that as her in drawers will, within seconds, overwrite the ECU map literally every time I go near the "you shall not pass!" setting and it turns out that her default setting is quite a lot more economical than mine.

It probably helps that being an old dibble class 1 jockey my observation and anticipation skills are better than average, which helps enormously when conserving momentum and thus not having to wastefully brake and accelerate unnecessarily. Brakes and tyres also lead an easy life under my ownership.
As an aside, assume for a moment that a given remap improves economy by a point or two...how many tens of thousands of miles would one need to drive to recoup the £500ish cost of the map, and the annual premium the mod adds to the insurance? It seems an expensive way to make a modest saving.
Another recomendation for Chris at Davtec and his mapping. Fuel economy not really, but pulls the caravan like a train.Speak to Chris @Dav-Tec mate…. he’s based in Chesterfield.
I had my old T6 re-mapped to from 140 to 180 ish and the fuel economy did improve. Most of my driving is done on the motorway and at 70mph my revs were 2000rpm, but after the re-map, they went down to about 1800rpm, and that's where I saw the improvements in mpg. I did a further trouble free 70k in it before selling, and I would say the mapping paid for itself. What I would say though, a gearbox re-map of the DSG is advisable.
How does that work? Providing you were in the same gear, on the same wheels and tyres the final drive ratio between crankshaft and tyre is the same before and after the remap.
He had the clutch replaced at the same time?
