T6 for evaluation

Hi everybody,

I'm thinking to buy this VW T6. A german car (mostly drove in the south of Germany). 2 owners

07/2017
177200 km (110106 mi )
TDI 2.0, 150 HP
6 gearbox
box plain van, SWB
full service history
price 19990 euro, buying from the dealer

The interior and the body outside look ok for me, no rust on the body at all, I mostly worry about the structural and mechanical parts

Could you please evaluate and write if it is a good deal or not? Too much rust on important parts or it is ok?

He is saying the pictures you have are good and you should consider becoming a VIP (paid) member to the forum to unlock all the knowledge on the forum.

in terms of valuation, if it was over here in the UK, I would say that it is overpriced.

I've just paid £13,000 for a 2018, 5 speed on 92,000 miles, Candy White, Highline

It looks better underneath than mine with less mileage and same age. Very clean. There's not much anyone will tell you outside of that.

Cam belt and water pump needs doing if not done yet obviously. 4motion service etc.

It's unlukely you will buy a van without there being stuff to do to it.

It is a little pricey also.

Ask the owner if you can syringe off 80mL of engine oil and do a Miller oil analysis, it takes a few days to get the results.
You’ll need the oil grade used and the mileage / Km since the the oil change service.
This test will not be of much use if the oil has less than 1000 miles / 1600Km.

Thank you for response. The timing belt was not changed yet. The owner said it is required after 210000 km, so in 30000 km. I also read on some forums about it. But indeed I need to do it..

Regarding the price - I'm monitoring the market couple of weeks.. Already faced with 3 scams. Maybe it is not enought.. But I can't find anything better than this offer, other cars have a clear rust on the body or don't have 4motion and 6 gears or the dealer is responding quite bad. It is quite far from my location (i'm in Begium - the car is near Munchen). In this offer - the dealer responds very quick and polite and patient. He sent me that pics

It's too far away. Keep looking. You want something local. Within 40mins driving distance or less. That van needs new cambelt and water pump in my opinion. The dealer has the advantage here as you are likely an obvious desperate buyer so you have no leverage at all if you go look at it, and if you long distance buy it's even worse (i bought mine long distance)

There will always be more vans. I wouldn't jump on this one unless you have no choice... even then I wouldn't.

Good luck anyway.

Thank you for the advice and wish. I totally understand. I tried to find it locally, but such configuration in that condition costs much much higher and even not available..
I said to the dealer directly that I will come to have a look and maybe buy. I have a friend near the dealer, so I will not waste the time of visiting anyway.

Yes, I can continue looking.. But there are a looot of scammers and not honest dealers. So I think the dealer with no bas review on google, who works for a long time who shows you anything in advance means something.. Even if it is a bit overprices.. But I'm not sure it is like more than 3k euro overpriced (selling from the dealer)..

It is overpriced. If the dealer was local I would say ' I am a cash buyer and I want to give you EU 17,990 today for the van.'

He would say 'the price is EU 19,990'

You would say ' the price is EU 18,990 with a cam belt and water pump change and a years warranty. Or I walk thank you'

More vans will come. Patience. You need to hold fast. Don't look on facebook market place or similar selling sites. This is too big a purchase to be dealing with unregulated vendors.

I found it on mobile de

I think the UK market and EU are very different. I found a lot of goods that cost much lover in UK than in EU.

The dealer said he can't give me a warranty for the can with such millage.. And they will change additionally for the timing belt.. But.. I will come and have a look

In my opinion - Nope, nope and nope once more. He knows he has the advantage and you will pay too much. Also, no steering wheel controls... too many dents for the premium price.

...and the steering wheel is on the wrong side (",)

A high mileage and some things need attending to service wise but as it is a 4Motion machine has the latter been taken into consideration by everyone commenting, that, this is bound to put a premium on an estimated price surely?

What do you think should I say it to him in a mail/whatsapp or when I physically come? What price would be the honest?

"the steering wheel is on the wrong side" - LOL!
