T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

Autotrader, the damage is already done.
That's what am thinking 12500 miles over 4 years last month dumping fuel since new telling me to open bonnet to reset its a software issue then to find out its not its the dpf regeneration dumping fuel when engine turned off raising oil levels then sensors working overtime there told me to let it do a regeneration sit in van how inconvenient if they told me this wjljen I payed 60k I would ov run a mile

Presumably an oil analysis lab could tell if there's diesel in the oil?
2 years ago now I had the 'oil too high' issue on my 6.1, I panicked thinking the end is nigh! I sent a sample off to Millers to do the anal antics and had an oil change too for good measure.
Millers report gave me nothing to worry about, in my case it was purely oil expansion. The light came on once more after that malarkey then never to be seen again having kept the oil level half way up the crosshatching.

kindly keep the details of your anal antics to yourself Wayne

Sounds like you need a thinner pipe. Should come out easily enough especially when warm.
I have the same fault with oil levels too high...and also same issue getting oil out of the sump. I bought a syringe with 5mm tube...went down nice and easy but have only managed to withdraw about 50ml oil. At first it was like an air lock and syringe wouldn't go up...now its just drawing up 'spits'of oil. I've tried it up/ down/ all around 😬...very frustrating

Yep it's not easy to get some out through the dipstick tube. I managed eventually and the warning hasn't come back since.

Had the software update done by VW here in Germany, this TPI number. Hasn't come back since.

I'll be warming it up and giving another go tomorrow...

Assume they charged?...unless you're under warranty (which I'm not)

I'm also sending oil sample off as I've had the van 5 months, and do mostly short journeys so need to be aware if the dpf is causing too much dilution with the oil. I have a dpf monitor app so will be trying to avoid turning engine off mid regen...not always possible on the nursery run etc.

Yeah wasn't much though, but as it's not a recall they charge for it. But it hasn't come back 🤞🏼

Update was before. That issue last week was me interrupting a regen seemingly and the van continued it on the next restart

Ah that's why you asked, so what does that mean - the software is available for people to install via something like VCDS, or..?

Yes

In principle - yes.
Though VCDS doesn't have the capability to reprogram modules. Need other tools, one of the most affordable is VCP. Anyways, many garages (&all VW) have ODIS (VW factory tool).

Makes sense! Well there you go, that's the one I got and it's fixed it for me 🤞🏼💪🏼

I bought something very similar to this siphon kit, it worked to remove 400ml plus to take the level of oil to half way up/down the crosshatching on the dipstick. Following another oil change service, oil was filled again to the top of the dipstick, I bought another siphon kit, the original had 'retired'! One use only, perhaps I didn't clean it thoroughly. Never had a software update, not had the problem for over 2 years now...
