T6.1 Heated Steering Wheel

What coding have you performed so far
Hi Stan I activated the steering wheel heating in vcds as my attached pictures and have the control for three stage heating in the heater menu on the stereo settings but the icon on the consumer screen would not activate/turn yellow
So next step I decided I had connected the can high and low in the wrong place behind the stereo so I moved it to the BCM plug C T73 pin46 can Hi green
T73 pin47 can low orange/brown

At the squib end they are T14 pin 5 orange/ brown and T14 pin 6 orange/ green
Turned on the ignition and started it up heated steering wheel icon turned yellow and notified on the clocks steering wheel heating activated so all good
But! Cruise threw an error saying deactivated and got loads of other errors when I scanned with obd11
Disconnect ed one of the can wires and everything is fine again but I’m back to square 1 any ideas?

What coding have you performed so far
Hi Stan
Not sure if you have seen my previous message but I’ve had another go on the van this afternoon

so after checking all the wiring is in the correct pins again I have disconnected the can high to the slip ring again and all the steering wheel functions work and the heating for the wheel can be turned up and down through the stereo 3 stage but can’t be turned off

If I cycle the ignition heating comes back on and I get the notification in the clocks

Can’t activate the heating button on the steering wheel, I’ve found the button in OBD11 but I can’t turn it on
Can’t find anything in vcds for that

If I connect the Can Hi again I get a cruise error and the steering wheel functions don’t work

It’s seems to me that the coding has worked but there is a conflict when I introduce Can Hi

Any advice would be appreciated

Update on my steering wheel retrofit
It’s all working as it should now😁
Heater button on the wheel, heating in the menu on the stereo 3 stages and the icon between the clocks
Turns out I had a dodgy clock spring causing the problems, I got another from a mk7 golf and it fired straight into life without any errors happy days
Managed to find the steering wheel heater button coding using vcds in the gateway module in a sub system menu and activated it there
Wouldn’t activate through obd11 very strange

Hi everyone,
I’m currently retrofitting a heated steering wheel (3G0 419 089 DM VDH) with HOD into my T6.1 (MY2021).

I’ve seen that most people here successfully used the 5Q0 953 569 B slip ring for this retrofit.
However, I noticed there are newer revisions — 5Q0 953 569 C and 5Q0 953 569 D.
Does anyone know if these also work correctly with the T6.1 setup (heated + HOD steering wheel)?
Or is the B version the only confirmed one that works without errors (e.g., “swing arm” fault)?
Thanks in advance for clarifying

The letters on these are not revisions but variations of the part so I would be doubly sure before parting with your cash

Good day everyone, I don’t drive a T6.1 — I have a Polo. I’d like to benefit from your experience; I’ve read all the comments, but I have one issue with the wiring. In the Polo wiring diagram, the functions of the wires aren’t specified, and I’m a bit concerned because in the Golf diagram the wire colors are swapped around. Could someone please help me with this?

NO, SQ1 simply passers through all the required power / signal to the T6.1 MFSW buttons. You can't talk to the gateway itself.

I suspect the 5Q1 talks to the car CAN via the other J519 LIN bus, but the T6.1 doesn't have this connection, and i'm not sure the T6.1 module supports it.
The BCM in the Golf 8 is different—it includes steering control, which we don’t have.IMG_6808.webp

Check out the wire mod I did to get the horn working, details are in this thread

When we have a new B or F ring, it already includes one extra PIN. Isn’t it possible to wire the horn and reprogram it in the BCM?

If you used correct slipring you need 5Q0 953 502 M combi switch to stop errors. Otherwise the slipring is looking for it due to them being connected directly to it not like original ones are
Has anyone managed to install the Combi Switch? Will the 5Q0 Slipring control the 5Q1953507AC Combi Switch? The mounting of the 5Q1 seems more similar to ours, and it also has a button for the assistance systems.

Can someone help me?
I see module 16 — the heating doesn’t start either from the steering wheel button or from the media system. It lights up yellow briefly and then turns off. Which setting did you choose in 08?
CanL - Pin 7, Gateway CanH - Pin 17.
The horn also doesn’t work — did you move PIN 8 like Pauli did, or did you leave it there?IMG_6855.webpIMG_6856.webp
